France: Day 7

We started the day off by riding the metro up to St. Denis again, this time so we could go to the marche (market).  We wound our way through the crowded aisles to see what the vendors were selling.  There were clothes, toys, tools, jewelry, toiletries, and more.  We also walked through the supermarket cause Jacob wanted me to see the variety of meats and cheeses.  We didn't buy anything, but it was a fun experience.

Then we took a quick stop off the metro to see Moulin Rouge.  We heard the tourist shows there are overpriced and overrated, so we didn't plan on seeing anything there.

Next stop was Sacre Coeur, or the Basilica of the Sacred Heart.  It's a major landmark in Paris and is built at the highest point in the city.  Which basically means there are plenty of steps to climb, surprise!  We walked around inside the chapel, toured the crypt, and also viewed the city from the top.  

The view was breathtaking.

Lunch on the run again.

I loved going into the little bakeries.  I wanted to try one of everything.  :)

That night we went on a bateaux-mouche, or boat tour, on the Seine.  Our ride started at 8 pm and it quickly turned very cold.  As we passed by familiar landmarks in the city, an automated recording would describe what we were seeing.  Then it was repeated in 4 other languages. :)

Our thin jackets were not sufficient against that French wind.  My hands were popsicles by the end.

I don't even remember what this bridge is, I just thought it looked pretty. :)

The Eiffel Tower was dark as we approached near the end of the tour, but it lit up right as we rode by.

So pretty!

Even though we were freezing, the boat tour is one of my favorite things we did.
